EU Appoints Marijana Kujundzic as New Ambassador to Azerbaijan
The European Union has appointed Marijana Kujundzic as its new ambassador to Azerbaijan. The announcement was made by Kaja Kallas, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. Kujundzic takes over this important diplomatic role, succeeding her predecessor as the EU seeks to strengthen its ties with Azerbaijan.
Kujundzic currently represents Croatia in the Political and Security Committee (PSC) of the EU. Her extensive experience includes serving as an advisor to the Working Group of Foreign Affairs Counsellors (RELEX) at Croatia’s Permanent Representation to the EU. This background positions her well to navigate the complexities of EU-Azerbaijan relations.
As the new ambassador, Kujundzic will be responsible for fostering diplomatic relations and promoting EU interests in Azerbaijan, a country of strategic importance in the region. The appointment aligns with the EU’s broader foreign policy objectives, particularly in strengthening partnerships with countries in the South Caucasus.
