Singapore Unveils Largest Dinosaur Showcase with 33 Fossils

Dinosaur enthusiasts in Singapore can look forward to an extraordinary exhibition opening on October 11, 2023. The Science Centre Singapore will host the Dinosaurs, Extinctions, Us showcase, featuring an impressive collection of 33 rare fossils and 60 full-scale models. Spanning over 3,000 square metres, this event is set to be the largest dinosaur exhibition ever held in Singapore.
In collaboration with the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum of the National University of Singapore, the showcase comprises two distinct exhibitions divided into three interactive zones. Visitors will have the opportunity to encounter a full-scale cast of the colossal Patagotitan mayorum, one of the largest dinosaurs known to have existed, in the Dinosaurs Of Patagonia section.
The second part of the exhibition, titled Six Extinctions, presents over 30 displays that illustrate some of Earth’s most catastrophic extinction events. Among the highlights is Scotty, recognized as the largest T-rex skeleton ever discovered. This portion of the exhibition aims to educate visitors about extinction, emphasizing that it can affect species locally as well as globally.
The Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum will also showcase specimens from its collection, including the now-extinct cream-coloured giant squirrel and the rufous-collared kingfisher, both of which were once native to Singapore. This inclusion serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of biodiversity.
Tickets for the Dinosaurs, Extinctions, Us exhibition will be available for purchase starting September 1. Pricing is set at S$25.90 for children and S$29.90 for adults for Singaporean citizens and permanent residents. For standard admission, ticket prices are S$35.90 for children and S$39.90 for adults.
This ambitious exhibition promises to engage visitors of all ages, providing a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of dinosaurs and the critical importance of conservation efforts.
