Uniqlo Launches Exclusive Pop Mart Collection in Singapore

Fashion retailer Uniqlo has announced the launch of a new collection themed around the popular Pop Mart franchise, specifically featuring characters from The Monsters series. The collection will be available starting September 5, 2023, and includes a range of T-shirts and sweatshirts for both adults and children. This exciting release will be accessible online and at all Uniqlo locations throughout Singapore.
As part of the launch, Uniqlo will offer exclusive novelties to customers. On the release date, the first 150 shoppers at select Uniqlo stores who purchase any two items from the Pop Mart collection will receive a limited-edition shopping bag. Participating outlets include Orchard Central, Ion Orchard, Jewel Changi Airport, Suntec City, and Jem.
From September 5 to 11, customers who buy any two items from the collection—either online or in-store—will also receive a sticker set featuring various characters from The Monsters series. This initiative reflects the growing popularity of Pop Mart’s characters, especially among collectors and fans of the brand.
The Monsters Series and Its Creator
The Monsters series was conceptualized by Kasing Lung, a Hong Kong-born artist who grew up in the Netherlands. Inspired by Nordic fairy tales, Lung established The Monsters universe in 2015, creating characters that draw influences from elves, fairies, and monsters. Notable characters from this series include Labubu, Zimomo, and Tycoco.
In 2019, Lung entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with the Chinese toy manufacturer Pop Mart, paving the way for the introduction of blind box figures based on The Monsters. Since then, characters like Labubu have gained immense popularity, with fans attending toy events and exhibitions to secure exclusive merchandise.
This collaboration between Uniqlo and Pop Mart marks a strategic move for both brands, tapping into the vibrant culture of collectible toys and fashion. As Uniqlo continues to diversify its offerings, the anticipation surrounding the Pop Mart-themed collection is expected to draw significant interest from both fashion enthusiasts and Pop Mart collectors alike.
