Ruben Dias Extends Manchester City Contract Until 2029

Ruben Dias, the Manchester City defender, has officially signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2029. The announcement came from the club on October 13, 2023, marking a significant commitment from both the player and the organization.
Since joining from Benfica in 2020, the 28-year-old centre-back has played a crucial role in the team’s success, helping them secure a total of 10 trophies. This includes a historic treble in 2023, where City achieved remarkable feats in both domestic and European competitions.
Recognition and Achievements
Dias has not only contributed to the team’s accomplishments but has also received individual accolades. He was named the 2020/21 Premier League Player of the Season and awarded the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year. His leadership and defensive skills were pivotal as City made history by becoming the first team to win four consecutive top-flight titles in 2024.
In a statement reflecting on his extension, Dias expressed his pride in representing Manchester City. “I’m so proud to represent this great Club. City are where I want to be – at the top of the sport, competing for trophies,” he said. He emphasized that the club’s ambition aligns with his personal goals, highlighting his commitment to contribute to future successes.
Support from Club Leadership
Hugo Viana, Manchester City’s Director of Football, praised Dias for his professionalism and work ethic. “He is a leader in the dressing room and on the pitch. He is one of our captains, the players listen to him, and Pep and the coaching staff love working with him. He is the ultimate professional,” Viana commented, underscoring the respect Dias commands within the team.
As Dias prepares to continue his journey with Manchester City, he aims to maximize his contributions. “My job now is to be the best I can be for the duration of this contract, so that I can play my part in helping us challenge for more silverware,” he stated, indicating his determination to maintain high performance levels.
With his contract extended, Dias remains a vital asset for Manchester City as they aim for continued success in domestic and European competitions in the coming years.
