Unique BMW i7 Commemorates Singapore’s 60th Anniversary
A bespoke BMW i7 electric luxury sedan, created to celebrate Singapore’s 60th anniversary, was unveiled on July 15, 2023. This unique model, named the BMW i7 Singapore Icons, also marks BMW Asia’s 40 years in the region. Only one unit has been produced, making it the rarest BMW i7 in the country.
Lars Nielsen, managing director of BMW Group Asia, expressed pride in the project, stating, “Planning for this masterpiece began 18 months ago and was a labour of love. It is a celebration of icons and was created to be one itself.” He emphasized that the vehicle represents the journey of a nation characterized by strong leadership, innovation, and ambition, paralleling BMW’s evolution over the past four decades in Singapore.
The design of the BMW i7 Singapore Icons incorporates elements that symbolize significant milestones in both Singapore’s national journey and BMW Asia’s history. A standout feature is the custom Madeira Red paint sourced from Rolls-Royce, providing a rich, dark cherry finish that is exclusive to this model. No other vehicles will be produced in this unique hue.
In addition, a specially crafted insignia, featuring the “Singapore Icons” logo, has been laser-etched into the Hofmeister kink, a hallmark of BMW’s design language. The vehicle is equipped with 21-inch, 20-spoke wheels, produced exclusively by BMW Individual, signifying its unique status.
Inside, the sedan boasts Merino leather upholstery in Smoke White, complemented by Alaska Grey embroidery and the Singapore Icons logo stitched across all four headrests. A remarkable feature of the interior is the dashboard inlay, which showcases seven iconic Singaporean landmarks. These include the Singapore Changi Control Tower, Marina Bay Sands, the Merlion, Gardens by the Bay Supertree Grove, Anderson Bridge, the ArtScience Museum, and the Singapore Flyer. Each landmark is meticulously laser-cut into a single 25.7 cm-wide piece of metal, seamlessly integrated into fine oak-grey wood.
The BMW i7 Singapore Icons has been purchased by Choo Wai Luen, whose family business, Kwong Cheong Thye Pte Ltd, is celebrating its 133rd anniversary this year. Choo acquired the vehicle through Eurokars Group.
According to BMW Asia, this “one-of-one” model symbolizes the aspirations of both Singapore and BMW Asia. It represents a significant moment where a car transcends its function to become a tribute to national pride and achievement.
