Four individuals tragically lost their lives when a small aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff from London Southend Airport on July 14, 2023. The incident occurred around 16:00 local time (15:00 GMT) as the plane was en route to the Netherlands.

Essex Police confirmed in a statement on Monday that all four people on board were deceased. Chief Superintendent Morgan Cronin addressed the media, stating, “Sadly, we can now confirm that all four people on board died. We are working to officially confirm their identities. At this stage, we believe all four are foreign nationals.”

Authorities are actively investigating the accident, interviewing numerous witnesses in an effort to construct a detailed account of the events leading up to the crash. Forensic teams have also been deployed to assist in the investigation. Cronin added that the airport will remain closed until further notice as investigations continue.

Emergency Response and Witness Accounts

Eyewitness accounts describe a chaotic scene as the Beechcraft B200 went down in flames, sending a thick plume of black smoke into the air. Video footage captured the aftermath, showing the wreckage and the rapid response of emergency services.
