SingPost Unveils Horse-Themed Stamps for Chinese New Year
Singapore Post (SingPost) has launched a new collection of stamps and a special collector’s sheet to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year, marking the Year of the Horse. The announcement was made on January 20, 2024, as part of an ongoing series that began in 2020 with the Year of the Rat. The horse is the seventh animal in the Chinese Zodiac, known for its adventurous spirit.
Details of the New Stamp Collection
The horse-themed stamps will be available starting January 23, 2024, at all post offices, philatelic stores, and on SingPost’s website. The stamp set features two unique illustrations of the horse and is offered in two denominations: First Local at S$0.62 and S$2.
For collectors, pre-cancelled first day covers, which include the complete set of stamps and are marked with a special Zodiac Horse postmark, will retail for S$4.85. Additionally, a presentation pack containing both stamps is priced at S$5.35.
Collector’s Items and Special Offerings
In celebration of the Year of the Horse, SingPost is also introducing a collector’s sheet that outlines the characteristics of those born in the Horse years. This item, which includes a set of eight red packets, will be available for S$19.15. Moreover, a Zodiac MyStamp Folder featuring a spring decorative MyStamp sheet that highlights the horse’s attributes will be offered for S$22.20.
These new products not only celebrate a significant cultural event but also contribute to the rich tradition of stamp collecting in Singapore. SingPost continues to foster interest in philately through these innovative offerings, merging art with cultural significance.
The stamps and collector’s items are expected to appeal to both enthusiasts and the general public, enhancing the festive spirit of the Chinese New Year.
