Vijay’s ‘Theri’ Set for Theatrical Re-Release This Pongal
Thalapathy Vijay’s 2016 blockbuster, Theri, will return to theatres on January 15, 2026, coinciding with the Pongal festival. This re-release comes as fans look forward to a nostalgic revival of the actor’s iconic role, while his upcoming film, Jana Nayagan, faces unexpected delays.
Producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu of V Creations announced the re-release via his X account, sharing a special poster to excite fans. The date also marks a significant milestone, as it will be ten years since Theri was first released.
The Story and Success of ‘Theri’
Directed by Atlee, Theri features Vijay in a dual role as DCP Vijaya Kumar and Joseph Kuruvilla. The film narrates the story of a former police officer who sacrifices his career to raise his young daughter in a safe environment. However, his peaceful life is disrupted when his past resurfaces, putting his daughter in jeopardy. Child actor Nainika portrays Vijay’s daughter, while notable performances from Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Amy Jackson add depth to the narrative.
