Johnny Knoxville Confirms Release of Jackass 5 for June 26
Actor Johnny Knoxville has officially announced that the much-anticipated film, Jackass 5, will hit cinemas on June 26, 2024. This new installment comes four years after the release of Jackass Forever, marking the franchise’s continued popularity since its inception on MTV. Knoxville, who gained fame as a key member of the original stunt show, expressed his excitement for the upcoming release in an Instagram post, stating he was “starting the year off with a bang.”
The franchise has maintained a loyal fanbase since its debut, with Knoxville leading a cast known for their outrageous stunts and comedic antics. Although fans have eagerly awaited a new film, Knoxville had previously hinted at the possibility of revitalizing the series by introducing younger talent. In an interview with Collider, he suggested that “if we did do another one, we’d need to bring in a lot of young guys,” indicating a potential “changing of the guard” within the cast.
Challenges with Original Cast Members
Despite the excitement surrounding the new film, the return of original cast member Bam Margera remains uncertain. Margera, who gained fame alongside Knoxville in the early 2000s, has publicly stated that no amount of money could persuade him to return to the franchise. His absence is notable, as he has faced significant personal struggles, including substance abuse issues that led to his exclusion from Jackass Forever.
In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Margera expressed deep resentment towards his former castmates, citing the treatment he received during his recovery process. “The damage has been done,” he said, emphasizing that he feels wrongfully treated after being required to attend treatment and subsequently being cut from the film. His legal battle against Paramount Pictures, Knoxville, and director Spike Jonze regarding his dismissal from the franchise was settled in 2022.
Looking Ahead to Jackass 5
As Jackass 5 prepares for its summer release, the anticipation is palpable among fans of the series. Knoxville’s leadership and the introduction of new cast members may provide a fresh dynamic to the franchise while retaining the essence that made it a cultural phenomenon. The film’s debut is poised to be a significant event in the entertainment calendar, attracting both long-time fans and new audiences alike.
While the future of the franchise remains uncertain without Margera, Knoxville’s confirmation of the new film reflects a commitment to keep the spirit of Jackass alive. As the release date approaches, further details are expected to emerge, potentially revealing more about the cast and the stunts that will define this next chapter in the iconic series.
