EU Condemns Iran’s Violent Response to Protests, Calls for Internet Restoration

The European Union’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, condemned the Iranian authorities’ “heavy-handed” response to ongoing protests during a statement made on January 9, 2024. Kallas emphasized the need for the Iranian government to restore internet access as demonstrators continue to express their dissatisfaction with the rising cost of living and government policies.
