The prestigious Golden Globe Awards are set to take place on January 11, 2026, marking the beginning of Hollywood’s awards season. This year’s ceremony will be held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, and will commence at 20:00 Eastern Time (09:00 Singapore time the following day). Viewers in the United States can watch the event live on CBS or stream it on Paramount+.

Nikki Glaser will return as the host for the second consecutive year after receiving positive feedback for her performance in 2025. Glaser made history as the first woman to host the Golden Globes solo. Her previous appearance was marked by humor that included calling the ceremony “Ozempic’s biggest night.” As she prepares for this year’s event, Glaser stated, “It was the most fun I have ever had in my career, and I can’t wait to do it again.”

In terms of viewership, last year’s Golden Globes attracted an average of approximately 10 million viewers, maintaining a steady audience compared to the previous year. While these numbers are significantly lower than a decade ago, the Golden Globes remain the third most viewed awards show, following the Oscars and the Grammys.

Notable Nominations and Awards

The nominations for this year’s Golden Globes have generated considerable excitement. The film One Battle After Another leads the nominations with a total of nine, including acting nods for Leonardo DiCaprio and Chase Infiniti, alongside a directing nomination for Paul Thomas Anderson. The awards categorize films into drama and musical or comedy, with “One Battle” classified as a comedy.

Other notable nominees include Timothée Chalamet for his role in Marty Supreme and George Clooney for Jay Kelly. In the supporting categories, the competition is fierce, with nominees such as Ariana Grande, Teyana Taylor, and Adam Sandler. The Danish film Sentimental Value follows closely with eight nominations, including a nod for actress Renate Reinsve.

The television category sees The White Lotus leading with six nominations, showcasing the series’ continued success in the awards circuit.

Acknowledging Industry Legends

This year’s Golden Globes will also honor two iconic figures in the entertainment industry. Helen Mirren will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award for her extensive work on screen, while Sarah Jessica Parker will be presented with the Carol Burnett Award for her contributions to television.

At 80 years old, Mirren has won three Golden Globes and is nominated again this year for her performance in the series MobLand. Her career includes an Oscar win for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen. Mirren was appointed a Dame of the British Empire in 2003 in recognition of her artistic achievements.

Parker, known for her role in Sex and the City, has won six Golden Globes and two Emmys. The Carol Burnett Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to television, has been awarded since 2019, with previous recipients including Ryan Murphy and Ellen DeGeneres.

As the Golden Globes approach, anticipation builds for a night filled with celebration, recognition, and, undoubtedly, memorable speeches that could set the tone for the upcoming Academy Awards on March 15, 2026.
