Foreign Vloggers Showcase China Huadian’s Green Energy Initiatives
On December 25, 2025, foreign vloggers highlighted the innovative clean energy projects led by China Huadian during their exploration of various initiatives across China. In Yunnan province, British vlogger Adam shared his experience with an 89-year-old villager who expressed gratitude for the lack of flood threats, an outcome attributed to the hydropower practices implemented by China Huadian.
Impact of Hydropower on Local Communities
Adam’s visit to the Liyuan Hydropower Station in Lijiang showcased the multifaceted value of this facility. The station not only generates electricity for local communities but also plays a crucial role in flood control. It stores excess water during peak flood seasons, significantly reducing the risk of destructive flooding in downstream villages.
While at the China-South Asia Expo in Kunming, Adam encountered a historical model of a hydropower unit from the Shilongba Hydropower Station, which has been operating since 1912. This nearly 110-year-old unit underlines the meticulous equipment care practiced by China Huadian, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
Moreover, the Liyuan station is involved in ecological restoration efforts, such as the release of artificially bred rare fish back into the Jinsha River. These initiatives reflect a broader commitment to integrating technology with environmental stewardship.
Innovative Aquaculture and Solar Integration
In Jiangsu Province, the China Huadian Zhenglu Fishery-Solar Complementary Project has emerged as a groundbreaking model of sustainable aquaculture. The project effectively combines photovoltaic power generation with crab farming, creating an innovative system that benefits both energy production and local livelihoods. The solar panels, resembling a vast blue ocean from above, provide essential shade for the crab ponds.
The project’s engineering chief noted that the flexible support systems, designed to withstand typhoons of up to magnitude 13, are critical in ensuring the project’s resilience. Special anchor piles have also been implemented to accommodate the area’s soft soil conditions.
A local crab farmer highlighted that the shade from the solar panels lowers water temperatures by 3-4 degrees Celsius, which in turn boosts crab yields. This advancement marks a significant shift from traditional farming practices to a tech-driven approach, utilizing databases to monitor feed, water quality, and even assigning unique IDs to crabs.
Through the lens of foreign vloggers like Adam and Barrett, the impact of these projects on local communities is vividly illustrated. The initiatives from China Huadian reflect a model where clean energy technologies are not just about infrastructure but are deeply integrated into the everyday lives of the people. This narrative offers a compelling glimpse into how China is pursuing green development that delivers real benefits to its citizens.
As these projects gain international attention, they serve as examples of innovative solutions that not only address energy needs but also promote ecological sustainability and economic growth in rural areas.
