Jeanette Aw Celebrates 25 Years in Showbiz with Heartfelt Tributes
Jeanette Aw marked a significant milestone this year, celebrating her 25th anniversary in the entertainment industry. The talented actress, known for her role in “The Little Nyonya,” received heartfelt tributes from colleagues during a special episode of her YouTube show, JA Unscripted. This episode featured letters from 80 fellow artistes, each reflecting on Aw’s professionalism and character, leaving her visibly moved.
The gathering of messages showcased the deep respect and admiration her peers hold for her. Esteemed colleagues such as Tay Ping Hui, Christopher Lee, Xiang Yun, and Qi Yuwu contributed their thoughts, with Tay going so far as to write his message by hand and include a selfie. His letter expressed profound admiration, stating, “When talent, beauty, and professionalism are combined with a relentless pursuit of perfection… your name comes before all others. You are indeed the one and only. Happy silver jubilee my dear, you deserve every success.”
As Aw read through the notes, she was overwhelmed with emotion. “I see many familiar names; I’m very touched. Many shared certain things that they still remember after so many years,” she said, tears streaming down her face. “I didn’t expect so many people to write notes [for me].”
Among the letters, one stood out, coming from Molby Low, CEO of local production house Wawa Pictures. Low had been a judge during the talent scouting competition Route To Glamour, which launched Aw’s career in 2000. While he initially had doubts about her acting abilities, he quickly changed his mind after witnessing her performance. “She conveyed everything with just a single emotional shift, and I instantly burst into tears. At that moment, I thought: ‘My God, this actress’ explosive power is incredible’,” Low recalled.
Aw found Low’s words particularly impactful. She reflected on the importance of encouragement in the acting profession, stating, “There are very few people who are so generous in directly praising my acting… Actually, we actors also need this kind of encouragement.”
This emotional celebration highlighted not only Aw’s remarkable career but also the strong bonds she has formed within the industry over the past 25 years. As she continues to captivate audiences, her colleagues’ heartfelt tributes serve as a testament to her lasting impact in the world of entertainment.
