Beige Timepieces Redefine Watch Trends with Fresh Designs
The watch industry is experiencing a significant shift with the rise of sand-colored timepieces. These neutral-toned watches, featuring shades of beige, brown, copper, and gold, offer a fresh aesthetic that stands out in a market traditionally dominated by vibrant colors and precious metals. This trend reflects a growing preference for watches that balance subtlety with a statement-making appeal.
Innovative Designs Capture Attention
Parmigiani has made waves with its Toric Petite Seconde, launched in 2024. This timepiece features a 40.6mm rose gold case paired with a solid gold, hand-grained dial, and a sand-colored nubuck alligator strap. The watch is powered by the manual-winding Calibre PF780, which boasts a 60-hour power reserve and intricate decorations, showcasing the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship.
Meanwhile, IWC continues to expand its offerings with the Pilot’s Watch Automatic 41 Top Gun Mojave Desert. This watch, featuring a tone-in-tone design with a beige rubber strap, is powered by the in-house 32112 calibre, providing a 120-hour power reserve. The Mojave shade of high-tech ceramic, first introduced in 2019, has now become a staple across various models in the Top Gun collection.
Another standout is the Armin Strom Tribute 1 Sandstein, which pays homage to the sandstone of Burgdorf in Bern. Its 38mm stainless steel case features a dial with contrasting finishes—frosted and grain d’orge guilloche—while housing the manually wound Calibre AMW21, which offers a 100-hour power reserve.
Breaking Traditional Boundaries
The Chronoswiss Pulse One Sand represents a bold departure from the brand’s classic aesthetic. Crafted entirely from titanium, it features a sandblasted brown dial with blued hands and hour markers, all while maintaining its signature regulator-style layout. Limited to just 100 pieces, the watch is powered by the automatic Calibre C.6001, providing a 55-hour power reserve.
In a unique collaboration, Ressence has created the Type 9 S75, which incorporates actual sand from the dunes of the seven Emirates. This limited edition watch, marking Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons’ 75th anniversary, features a 39mm titanium case and a camel leather strap, celebrating regional heritage in a contemporary design.
Audemars Piguet has also made strides with its Royal Oak Selfwinding Perpetual Calendar 41mm. Featuring the new Calibre 7138, this watch showcases a user-friendly perpetual calendar housed in a 9.5mm thick case. The standout model in this collection is crafted from Sand Gold, an alloy of gold, copper, and palladium, giving it a warm, inviting hue.
Lastly, the Ulysse Nardin Freak S Nomad introduces a sand-colored guilloche hour disc, surrounded by a titanium case with carbon-fibre side plates. This latest iteration builds on the original Freak’s innovative concept, which eschews traditional hands in favor of a carousel movement.
As the beige watch trend continues to gain traction, brands like Laurent Ferrier and Arnold & Son are also joining the movement, showcasing their own interpretations of this emerging aesthetic. The Classic Auto Sandstone and Longitude Titanium Kingsand Gold highlight the versatility of neutral tones while maintaining the craftsmanship and heritage that watch enthusiasts admire.
The emergence of these sand-colored timepieces suggests that watchmakers are embracing a new era of design, one that balances elegance with contemporary appeal. As collectors and enthusiasts alike gravitate toward these inviting shades, the watch industry may be witnessing a transformation that redefines traditional norms.
